Monday 4th May 2020

Today you are going to be completing a reading and grammar activity based on informal letters. Tomorrow you will be writing an informal letter of your own, so think carefully about any features you are noticing and the type of language used.

Click here for the task. You can check your answers here.

We are going to continue to follow the activities provided by White Rose. Click here to visit the Year 6 area of their website. This is going to have a fractions focus. Today, you need to complete Summer Term Week 3 Lesson 1 (Simplify fractions).

Watch the video and then answer the questions by clicking here to download the worksheet. Don’t worry if you can’t print it, just write the answers in your home learning book.

You can check your answers here.

If you would like to complete some additional work, you can look back through the problem solving activities we did not focus on during week 2.

Topic (History)

This year’s May bank holiday was moved from today to Friday (the 8th May) to allow everyone to be able to celebrate VE Day. These celebrations may now look a little different, however our tasks this week will be linked to this and hopefully support your celebrations at home.

Today we would like you to carry out some research into VE Day. The work we have completed this school year about WW2 and the activity from last week about searching the Internet should help you too!

You might find these questions useful to guide your research. For today, you only need to make notes: you will be using these tomorrow!

When was VE Day first celebrated?

What was it commemorating? Why was it an important day?

Who celebrated it? Where was it celebrated?

How did people celebrate?

How were people feeling?

What plans were in place to help people to celebrate in 2020? Why is this year significant?
