Monday 15th June 2020

This week, we are going to use the Oak National Academy resources and videos online to look at writing a balanced argument.

Today, you will be completing a mixed selection of comprehension questions. Click here to access the video and lesson information.

There will also be some new spellings to learn this week looking at homophones.

We are going to continue to follow the activities provided by White Rose. Remember, you need to watch the video on their website and download the resources from the links below. Today, you need to complete Summer Term Week 8 Lesson 1 (Solve 2-step equations).

Watch the video by clicking here to visit the Year 6 area of their website and then answer the questions by clicking here to download the worksheet. Don’t worry if you can’t print it, just write the answers in your home learning book.

You can check your answers here.

You can also have a look at the resources on the BBC Bitesize website here. They link with the White Rose activity each day.

In June 1948, the Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks, Essex carrying hundreds of people from the Caribbean. Many aboard had been to Britain before and some had fought in World War Two.

Click here to find out more about the history of the people on board and what it was like for them.

Citizens had British citizenship and British passports because many islands within the Caribbean were part of the British Empire.

Look at this activity about the journey of The Windrush and answer the questions. There is a blank map here you could use. You can use Google Maps as your atlas if needed.

Can you also complete the challenge to find out other key facts?
