Good morning! Why don't you begin today with a P.E. session with Joe Wicks? He will be leading a 30 minute session on his YouTube channel. Click here (after checking with an adult) to watch it live at 9am or catch-up with it later.
Today you will be focussing on reading and comprehension. You will be reading a text that has been chosen for you with appropriate questions at the end for you to answer.
The text is called ‘Back to Earth’. Read through this text really carefully taking your time to fully understand it; you may need to read it more than once. Underline the words you do not know and move onto task 2. Don’t worry, you will return to task 1 to complete it.
Now that you know what the unfamiliar words mean, you need to answer the questions which are at the end of the text.
Use the ‘Explore words’ (as yesterday) sheet to find out the meaning of words that you have underlined. You will need a dictionary to find the words; if this is not possible, use an online dictionary to help you.
By the end of the two tasks, you will have read and answered questions on a given text. You will have explored new words which will add to your vocabulary.
Complete either ‘Emoji code breaker 1’ or ‘Emoji code breaker 2’
You are a detective inspector and whilst enjoying the Annual Summer Fete you hear a loud scream…someone has stolen all the sausages and burgers!
Read the instruction sheet and solve the clues to help you find out who the thief is. Good luck!
By the end of the two tasks, you will have completed one of the emoji worksheets and used the clues in the second task to find the sausage and burger thief.
Art- Who is Banksy?
Firstly, read through the powerpoint slides. Using the mobile phone template, write a text to your friend telling them who Banksy is and what Banksy does. Your text should be between100 and 150 words.
Next, research and write down the names of 5 different Banksy art pieces. Where was each piece of artwork found?
Then, write down your opinions on Banksy’s artwork.
Finally, if you were Banksy, what would you draw and where would you draw it?
Draw your art piece (on paper) and write a few sentences explaining why you chose to draw it and why you chose your location.
